Today we will be talking about organizing your grimoire. If you need help figuring out what to add to your own grimoire, head on over to my post ‘What to add to your grimoire’ for a questionnaire to help you.

There are many different forms of a grimoire but no matter what type of form you use, you need to organize it to help you look for what you need. Your grimoire is something that will grow just as you will grow in your own craft. You will fill it with all the things that you will research about your path and all the other things you want to add to it. For me, I will fill my grimoire with information about crystals, herbs, astrology, moon phases, my heritage, and so much more.

I’m still working on organizing my grimoire and tying to find the perfect book for it. This is why I chose to use a digital notebook for right now until I start working on my physical book. Have a digital notebook will allow me to move around pages and organize it freely as I wish. I just find it to be easier for me to do it this way. For some, they jump right into their physical book but for me, I can’t do that. I’m some what a perfectionist when it comes to creating and organizing. Sometimes it’s a blessing and sometimes it’s a curse.

When organizing your grimoire, you want to know the categories you want to have within your book. By now you should know the things you want to add to your grimoire. If you still need help, click on the link in the first paragraph to help you. Once you have your main categories in place, you want to think about the sb-categories you want to include within your main categories.

Tips to help you organize your categories

Get a piece of paper and write down all your main categories. Get another piece of paper and put your main categories in order but leave about 5 to 6 lines in between each main category. The order you put them in can be however you link. I would suggest putting the most important categories to you at the very top of your list.

Then under each category, write down all your sub-categories you want to include in that main category. For example, I have my main category ‘Crystals’ and under that I have my sub-categories related to that subject.

Crystals

  1. The Power of Crystals
  2. Crystal Information
  3. Healing Crystals
  4. Most Commonly Used Crystals

Once you have a draft of the organized categories you want in your grimoire, you can start adding them within your grimoire. You can work on each category and sub categories at a time or you can jump around within your book. It’s completely up to you. If you do choose to jump around to work on may different things at once, leave some pages in between each category and sub categories. This is another reason why I’m using a digital notebook at the moment.
