This pass weekend, I did my first simmer pot and let me tell you, I love them. I’m looking into getting one of those small crockpots to use for my simmer pots now. I would continue to do them on the stove but our stove is missing all the numbers for the heat levels. That’s what happens when you are renters. I also should have used a smaller pot and less water. Anyways, I still like them and love how simple it was. Now, I know what to do with the left over grapes no one wants to eat in the fridge.
What is a simmer pot?
A simmer pot is a pot filled with water, fruits, spices, and/or herbs that gently simmers. When everything simmers, it will create a wonderful smell throughout your home.
I did a very simple simmer pot this pass weekend along with setting my intentions for me and my home. I’m always trying to find things that are low priced since I do budget. I also try to use what I have in my home for spell work before going by things. Below I’m going to go over what I used and how you can make your own simmer pot on a budget.
What you’ll need
Most to all of these items you should already have in your home. If not, you can get them at the dollar store or thrift store. For your grocery items you can pick them up at your local grocery store.
- Small or Medium sized pot (or you can use your crockpot)
- Knife
- Spoon
- 2 to 3 apples
- Bay Leaves
- Cinnamon (ground or sticks)
How to create your simmer pot
- Add 3/4 of water into your pot. Or more depending on the size pot you are using.
- Bring your water to a boil and then to a simmer.
- Cut up your apples and add it to your pot.
- Add in your cinnamon to your pot.
- Add in your bay leaves to your pot.
Intention Spell Work
Before you start adding your items into your pot, set your intentions and say a blessing over your items. Apples are good for love, marriage, wisdom, creativity and abundance. Cinnamon is for positivity, action, and healing. Bay leaves are for protection, banishing, healing, wisdom, and intent.
1. Have all your items set up and say a blessing over them. Your blessing can be anything you choose it to be. Since I do incorporate my faith into my practice, my blessings do a-line my Christian faith.
2. Once you’ve blessed your items, take as many bay leaves as you like and write your intentions on them. What are the things you want more of in your life or in your home?
Here are some of the things I wrote on my bay leaves: protection, wisdom, love, happiness, abundance, and healing. When writing these on the bay leaves, I would say “Protect my home, my family, and myself from those who wants to do harm upon us.” “Fill our home with an abundance of happiness and love.” “Feel me with wisdom to learn and grow.”
3. Once you have all your intentions set, cut up your apples. While cutting up the apples, say your intentions over and over in your head or out loud. When adding them into your pot, thank the apples for the love, wisdom and abundance they will give.
4. Add in the cinnamon and do the same as above. After, thank the cinnamon for the positivity and action it will provide.
5. Add in the bay leaves that you wrote on while saying each of your intentions. After, thank the bay leaves for the protection and healing it will provide.
6. Stir everything in your pot clockwise while saying all your intentions again. Let it simmer and every 20-30 minutes, check on your pot.
Once I’ve simmered my items for a few hours, I turn off my stove and let everything sit to cool off. When everything is cooled, I take it all outside and pour everything by the tree we have outside. While pouring everything out, I say another thank you prayer. By doing this, I’m giving water to our tree and food or the animals that live around our home.
There you have it. A very simple intention spell that you can make into your very own. I can’t wait to do more of these simmer pot spells.
