Welcome to my little ol’ blog.
My name is Christin and I’m the one who will be writing on this blog. I wanted to create this introduction post to why I created this blog and what you can expect as it grows.
First and foremost, I created An Eclectic Witch’s Blog as an outlet for myself and to keep track of my learning on this journey I’m taking. By no means am I an expert in the craft, truly, I’m just starting out on my journey, even though I’ve worked with crystals and oracle cards on and off for almost three years now. I’ve always been fascinated by the practice and always wanted to learn. What was holding me back was my religion and the things some people in that religion believed. I want to add that I do still follow some teachings of my religion and do plan to incorporate that into my practice. I want this to be a safe place for all Christian and non-Christian witches to learn and grow in both their faith and their practice.
That’s what most people don’t understand. Witchcraft is a practice and not a faith. What brings in the faith is the religion associated with the craft. Witchcraft is a tool that can be used as you prefer, then you can add in your own morals and ethics. You don’t need to be Wiccan or Pagan to practice witchcraft. I will touch more on this in another blog post that will be coming soon.
The first few posts on this blog will be general information all new witches should know. I will talk about the history of witchcraft along with a few book reviews. I’m in the learning and studying stage of witchcraft and I want to make sure I cross my Ts and dot my Is before fully jumping in. I believe knowledge is very important with anything you plan to do. From there, I will take you along with everything else I will learn and make into my own. I guess you can say this will be my Grimoire in a way.
Within this blog, there will be links to topics I will write about. As I said before, I’m still learning but I do know what I want to learn about. I’ve also done a little bit of research to learn what type of witch(es) I am. I’ll also have a blog post on how you can find out what type of witch you are. For me personally, I’m attracted to crystals and plants and will be working with those types of items. I will also tie in my beliefs with the divination I plan to do and explain how I incorporate my religion into it.
I’m also an illustrator and work a lot on my iPad. I will use this to create pages you all can have and use in your own Grimoire or Book of Shadows. I do have my own Etsy shop (shop1 - shop2) and website where I sell my art but I wanted to keep it separate from this blog. This blog may or may not have it’s own shop in the future. We will have to see how it all goes. In the meantime, you can follow me on Instagram and join my Facebook group to stay up-to-date on new posts and freebies.
